Governor Vacancy

Governor Vacancy at Trinity First School

Our governing body is made up of volunteers who are parent governors, foundation governors, staff governors and co-opted (sometimes referred to as community) governors. We currently have a vacancy for a co-opted governor, who may be a parent at school, or from the wider community. It is a brilliant opportunity to play an important part in school life and an opportunity to develop new skills.

Governors are responsible for deciding the framework for the development of the school and monitoring whether it is achieving its aims and objectives. We also assist with the appointment of staff, make decisions on the upkeep of the buildings and grounds, set the budget for the school and monitor how the money is spent.

With a key part of the board's role focusing on the setting and monitoring of the budget we would ideally be interested in anyone who has a background in finance/accounting in addition to having:

1. Enthusiasm for the school and for children’s education;

2. The time for meetings, visits and training (the Governing Board meets 10 times a year on Tuesdays at 4.30);

3. The ability to see the wider issues i.e. the interests of all the pupils in the school.

As a Governor you would have access to training to help build on existing skills or to develop new ones to help you in your role. If you are interested in applying for the role and would like to find out more then please feel free to contact janice.sledge@trinityfirstfrome.co.uk or jane.rose@trinityfirstfrome.co.uk
